In August of 2011, I moved from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, to Seattle, Washington. My friend Anna came with me on a road trip from one coast to the other. We saw 3 national parks, 1 prairie fire, billions of corn stalks, a grizzly eating an elk, and some mean lightning. We had 16 coffees, lots of pee breaks, boatloads of conversations with strangers, and 2 fights. Here’s what some of our country looks like from the side of the road, and sometimes from the driver’s seat. Oops.
